It's time that your contract system stopped being dystopian

I am a long-time MTN customer but one thing that continues to baffle me about them is how cumbersome and time-consuming their contract process is. I needed to do an "early upgrade" today because my phone was ******. This means that I am getting a new device on new terms, but I am an existing customer with existing details, vetting information etc. already on their system. None of my information has changed.

Renewing my contract and doing a sim swap took longer than an hour. An hour per customer... It is like this every time we renew.

I don't know why I put up with it except that it's a pain to change phone numbers and I haven't liked the look of the contracts at Vodacom when I've looked. I also still haven't forgiven Vodacom for that annoying animated rat mascot that they used to have.

My advice to MTN (and please send this to some decision-maker rather than trying to smooth me over---I don't really care; I can vote with my feet) is to commission some systems designers to make the same process 5 minutes long (at least for renewals). I guarantee it can be done with little or no security loss. According to the assistant who helped me and formerly worked at Vodacom, they can already do it in that time frame at Vodacom.

I have spent the last 10 years or more expecting MTN to do this, but nothing has changed. So please, MTN, get some efficiency experts involved. Your system is ridiculous and I am embarrassed for you.
