It shouldn't be this hard to have a warranty check or insurance claim done.
On 11 July 2022 I approached the MTN branch in Promenade Mall, Mitchells Plain to do a warranty check because my phone just stopped working and won't switch on. The clerk that came to me in the line outside told me "Not our problem" - Mind you I am a contract client AND I pay insurance. I make her aware of this and she immediately opts for a cancellation, and tells me to phone 135. I then tell her I don't want to cancel - I don't want my insurance to go to waste. I finally get into the branch after an hour, and I'm told they need my contract, because my contract was taken out online. Fine, I go back 2 days later with my contract, they say no they need proof of purchase. I email customer care, and they respond saying "Kindly note that that the contract you took is the proof of purchase because you did not buy in cash it's on contract, so the copy of contract is the proof of purchase". I go to a different branch (Westgate Mall, Mitchells Plain) with my contract - 3rd visit - and I'm informed that I do indeed need proof of purchase which is my original invoice. I visit Samsung in Canal Walk to see if they can assist without involving MTN, and they direct me to MTN Canal Walk saying I should ask them to print my invoice. I go there and they give me a number that I've had about 5 calls with without receiving any real help - ***. Customer service got back to me today, 28 July, sending me a copy of my ID, payslip, bank statement and an invoice of a phone I already cancelled at the beginning of the year - Samsung A32 and I currently have an A53. I've been battling with this query for 3 weeks now. Please help me.
