It's HARD work being an MTN customer!

A request was logged on 25/7/16 with MTN Customer Service to Unblacklist my i phone 5 device. The required affidavit, certified ID, unblacklisting declaration and proof of purchase was submitted and receipt thereof confirmed that day. After at least 12 phone calls to MTN (I kidd you not!), which weren't toll free as I can't even dial 808 from my phone, my device is still not working. In addition, I went into the following stores to ask for assistance: Benmore, Sandton City, Morningside and Hyde Park. Hyde Park told me to go to Morningside, as they have a technician on site who could test my phone. Off I go to Morningside to be told by the Consultant that they don't have a technician onsite, and the smaller stores just tell customers that as they don't know how to help them!

I enquired about the process and time frames, and was given contradicting information by MTN staff........"turn your phone off for 2-24 hours, no for 72 hours, no actually for 5 working days.......it could be a hardward problem." I asked the question in order to manage my own expectations as an MTN customer as I know from past experience that MTN clearly wouldn't be able to cope with this as well. They can't even get the basics right!

According to Vodacom the process to unblacklist a phone is not as complicated as MTN have made it out to be.

The end result is I still cannot use my phone, even though MTN are quite happy to charge me - funny that! I've

submitted my notice to cancel my contract (as well as a second contract I have with MTN) as both are due to end their terms within 5 weeks time (thank goodness). What's the bet that an MTN staff member won't acknowledge receipt, I won't receive confirmation of the contract cancellations and MTN will continue to debit my account. I'll then have to ask my bank to also do extra work and reverse the debit order in order to return my own funds to my bank account.

MTN = ADMIN!

Vodacom, I'm on my way :-)
