Iphone: poor service from supplier

While doing a software update in the beginning of April 2017, my iphone, which I received on contract from MTN, was stuck in recovery mode. I submitted it to iStore Brooklyn, who sent it in for diagnostics. They informed me that the phone has liquid damage and I needed to pay close to R7000 to have it repaired. I indicated with a police affidavit that the phone was never subjected to liquids while in my posession and was working well all the time (phone is about 1 year old). They said that perhaps MTN had given me a damaged phone when I received it and the 'latent liquid damage' then only later surfaced. I send ongoing mails to CORE (the company handling Apple queries in SA) with extremely poor service from them. I escalated this to senior management at CORE with no results at all. I am a customer of MTN for more than 15 years already and am now not sitting without a phone due to no one being able to assist me. It is extremely unfair to expect of a customer of MTN and Apple to be held liable for damage which was not caused by the customer at all (as per the police affidavit). PLEASE can MTN assist to sort out this situation, as no one at CORE would assist me at all. I believe that a customer of MTN with such a high amount of loyalty over 15 years, should be assisted and the problem should be resolved with immediate effect. The service is not acceptable at all. Thank you
