Insurance complaint

After being a MTN customer for more than 20 years, I had to submit a claim for the very first time after my cell phone was ******. I reported the matter to the SAPS (case number 455/1/2017) as the phone was ****** by a person who assisted me with house-renovations, with the tenants of the property present when the phone was taken and the individual disappeared whilst I collected spares from my vehicle.

After submitting the claim to MTN, I had no feedback whatsoever and after a week I had to contact them again and had to wait in a que for more than 30 minutes when eventually I spoke to one of the consultants. To my utmost surprise, she told me that she spoke to her supervisor and the claim will be rejected on the basis that I left the phone unattended.

I asked to personally speak to the supervisor to explain my situation when the phone was abruptly cut off.

I am a pensioner that is doing odd house renovations for an income, and I desperately need a phone. At this stage I am still paying a monthly amount of more than R600 for the insurance and the phone contract which is making things very difficult.

I am very disappointed in the treatment from MTN's insurance arm after being a loyal customer for more than 20 years and would really like some assistance in getting my phone replaced.
