Insurance claim

On 2016-04 I made an contract application with MTN and it was approved, contract was for a HP Laptop.I have had other contacts with MTN prior this one.

On 2016-07-25 my house was broken into , few item were ****** including MTN laptop ,i called the police and opened a case , case number is 1021/7/2016.

on 2016-07-26 i contacted MTN to make a claim due to theft , i was advised that i was not insured which surprised me .With the previous contracts i had or have with MTN everytime i went to the store to collect my gudgets i was advised that if i dont need the insurance i should call the MTN call center with 2 days and cancel it so when I collected my Laptop i understood that if i didnt want an insurance i would have to call the MTN to cancel it but in this case i wanted an insurance and i was not going to cancel it , so all this time i was under the impression that my laptop was insured ,after the MTN consultant informed me that i was not insured i had to look at my copy of contract after finding it, i noticed that the Consultant from the shop (newtown) never said anything about the insurance to me and on the contract none of the boxes were ticked to show whether i need an insurance or not

MTN consultant did not follow the process and i was mislead

Kindly assist
