Incorrect Upgrade - Useless Call Centre

In February (9th to be exact), I phoned MTN to cancel my Tablet. I then confirmed that my phone needs to remain on a month to month contract so that I can upgrade when I choose to do so (seeing as I was still happy with my phone).

My phone's battery is now starting to act up, so I wanted to go and upgrade on Saturday (10/12/2016), but in trying to do so their systems blocked me. The person in store told me that I was upgraded on the 9th of February to a SIM only contract which is not what I requested at all. I was then told that I need to get a hold of the recording of the conversation between the agent who took my call (From Velociti MTN) so that they can confirm that I didn't ask for a SIM only 24 month contract.

In trying to do this I spent 2+hours yesterday MTN Direct ( ********** ) and Velociti (011 912 300 - got this number from MTN direct AND ********** - This number always has a busy tone and you can't get through)

In dealing with both these entities, no one was able to assist me. Rather than getting assistance with the matter I get patronised by a ****y call centre agent trying to explain to me that there are different departments within MTN (Direct vs Velociti, etc). I know very well how the MTN company structure (albeit the worst structure in the world) works. The problem here is that NO ONE can assist me. I was bounced between departments, then drop from calls, then told to phone other people. After the 4th attempt at getting answers from the Velociti head office (011 912 300 - which I got from MTN Direct) I spoke to an extremely rude switchboard person telling me that I am at the wrong place and that I shouldn't phone them and then yet again redirected to MTN Direct.

So all I want is to get a hold of that damn recording to prove that I didn't request a 24 month SIM only contract and that I should be on a month to month contract. This all so that I can upgrade (which will give MTN MORE MONEY!!) to a new flagship phone.

I have been with MTN for more than 10 years and this is the level of service I receive. It is utterly pethitic. So I suggest that MTN gets their act together and pulls their partners (velociti) inline or they will see the largest smear campaign that I will personally spearhead.

- Chris

A likely story..

It's now Monday the next week just after 13h00 and still not a peep from MTN. Is this going to handled this week still? Maybe I should go on another Social media posting spree to get your attention again.

It seems like I need to make an effort by being a complete a-hole before anyone from MTN contacts me. Well no, you don't respond to me really. You make a public comment to make it seem as if you follow up with your clients, but then no follow up and no resolution.

Getting real tired of the service MTN.
