Incorrect Excess Fee quoted for insurance claim

I was happy after a lengthy battle to have received am authorisation letter for a replacement handset for my faulty phone which had been declared BER - BEYOND ECONOMICAL REPAIR by MTN Insurance.

The letter states that i had to pay R200 excess fee to facilitate the transaction. I went to MTN Direct store in Menlyn Mall to collect my new handset.

The consultant who also is the assistant store manager processed the transaction. He however indicated that I had been been given a wrong excess fee of R200 and the system would not accept it. It jad to be either R150 or R350 or more. When i offered to pay R150 since i was not the one at fault he told me he would be short. He mentioned he had to email the Insurance consultant in question to send another letter with the correct excess fee on it.

But knowing the reputation of MTN Insurance personnel and their lack of efficiency and a sense of urgency, I opted to pay R350 to enable the transaction.

MTN must reimburse me of R150 since the Consumer Protection Act states the Price I see is the Price I must Pay. Im really tired of these *********** sorry excuses of consultants who disregard the customer who pays their salaries.
