*********** Customer Care Over Inexplicably High Bill

My MTN bill is usually around the R300 - R400 mark, however I was all of a sudden billed R3000+ in September for data charges from early August. It took a great deal of emailing and calling, talking to not a single person who knew what was actually going on, but I eventually got a list of the times my subscriber usage limit was changed over that time period. The list hardly helped, and seemed ridiculous, with the usage limit jumping all over the place, and sometimes changing 3 times in 10 minutes (this was obviously not me). I have emailed their legal and billing department, and got only automated replies telling me they were looking into it. All the while I am still recieving sms's telling me to pay up. Clearly the training for customer consultants is pathetic, and MTN's internal infrastructure is completely broken and uncommunicative. I am supposed to be in contact with Cherildene Matthews, but have heard nothing from her since her sms saying MTN was reviewing the charges.

The fees themselves are unlikely incurred by the account. However it seems insane to me that they would not notify the customer of these kinds of costs being incurred, and it seems completely unfair that my subscriber usage limit can change seemingly at random, also without any notification, and to such high amounts (on one occasion it was R8000+!). I have so many reference numbers from MTN now I don't even know who to contact. I sincerely wish MTN would talk to it's customers about their bills at request, with someone who actually knows things to explain it all.
