*********** billing and service
The billing department and online customer service of MTN is absolutely atrocious. The level of incompetence is beyond shocking. I took out a home WiFi contract in July 2021 for R959 per month. August 2021 they billed me R1399 - so they can't even load their standard packages right. It took me three weeks to get a statement out of them, I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt, but once I got it, they loaded me on a pro-rata rate instead of my monthly package. This took so long that September was again billed incorrectly - so then they owed me R880 for the two months' incorrect billing. And this couldn't be fixed with online customer service. I had to go into the shop where I signed the contract - several times and several hours and several logged tickets later. No-one gets back to you or follows up like they promised. October they got my bill correct (R959) but they didn't load the R880 credit. Again I had to go back to the store (MTN Menlyn Park shopping center, by the way). November they loaded the R880 credit - but they *****ed up my package again and charged me R1399! So they had to load a credit of R440 AGAIN. I phoned this week, before my statement is due to check if all will be fine this month - I was assured it will be. Guess what: I got the statement and the R440 credit was loaded but they still haven't corrected my contractual amount form R1399 to R959 as signed on my contract!! Which means I will again have to get the agents from the store to log yet another ticket to load the R440 credit for December. How difficult can it be to get the contractual amount correct for a standard package? It is in the paper work, it is in the promotional material and I have been logging tickets about this for 5 months! There is no follow-up, no place to track the progress of tickets, you just get an email stating this reference number has been resolved/completed - which it clearly hasn't because they keep billing me about 30% more every month. It is ridiculous. And don't even try online customer service - it is automated, ineffective and very user unfriendly.
