In Sewer Ants aka Insurance

My average monthly spend with Mtn is R 2500. I have been a subscriber for more than 25 years and mostly happy with this SP until recently when my insurance which is now handled by Mtn underwritten by Guardrisk has failed to deliver.

My handest was damaged and as I had received such excellent service from Samsung's Repair centre previously, I took it there to be assessed. Paid the fee, got the phone back with the report. It needed to be replaced.

Off I went to my usual Mtn store only to be told with shock and horror how terrible the Mtn insurance service is by Mtn's own employees.

Just how bad could it be ? Pretty bad considering Mtn's own staff do not support the service. Who can blame them ? But how disturbing that staff are not proud of their company's service levels and make no secret of their disdain.

There is no service provided by Mtn insurance !

Being in the service industry myself, I am shocked that this is acceptable ?

Well I have been without my phone since 18 May. It has been collected to be assessed and despite attempts and assistance from my neighbourhood Maverick Mtn store staff there has been no contact or information forthcoming.

By the end of this week it will have been a month since I first handed in my phone and despite not having a handset I will be having to pay my full monthly subscription fee. I could have handled being without my phone for a week but one month ?

Previously I had my handset insurance through the SP recommended by Mtn and they had replaced my phone within a week. How is it possible that Mtn's inhouse insurance company cannot get it right to even bother to communicate with clients as to what the progress on the claim is. At this stage I do not even know whether the phone will be replaced, never mind by when ?

In my experience insurance companies offer varying degrees of service but Mtn does not even manage to deliver ANY service whatsoever.
