Impossible to perform SIM Swap

I have been trying for 3 days now to perform a seemingly simple SIM swap. I went to MTN who were going to cell me the PAYG SIm card for R3.50. The first store would not accept my drivers license as a valid form of identification. The second stores systems were down. On the second day of trying I went back to the first store with my I.D. but they too couldn't provide me with a SIM because their systems were down. I eventually went to PEP where I bought a starter pack for 40 cents. (How can they be cheaper than the service provider?)

I have been told that I have to perform the SIM swap myself in order to complete the process by dialing 173. I have been on hold since 9:45.

I will be going to another service provider soon if this is not resolved within the next few hours.

Hello Siphumezo.
Thank you for your reply. I really do appreciate your feedback and was happy once the SIM swap was finalised.
I am sure you can, and hopefully will streamline the entire process.
Hopefully this is the last post I ever publish regarding MTN.
