Impossible to cancel contract

A mail was sent on the 9th May to cancel MTN contract to retention mail address. It took MTN 4 weeks to respond. I suspect this is deliberately planned so it can charge me an extra month of fee. In the response I was asked to provide MTN pin. If my understanding was correct this pin logs into my MTN account where purchases are can be done. Questionable practice tbh.
