I recently lost my MTN phone which had ********** 712 number. I then went to the police station to report that I lost my phone. After that I went to Edgars stores at Nonesi Mall in Queenstown on the 12th of August 2016 to claim the phone from my insurance which I took when I purchased the phone.

I was told that they would process the documents and send them as soon as possible and that I should come back the following Tuesday (16 August 2016) of which I told the person helping me that I will be out of town and that I would be back on Friday (19 Augustt 2016). I left town and came back on Friday and when I arrived at Edgars stores Nonesi Mall I was told that the number was not yet blacklisted yet when I went to claim the phone , the guy who was helping me phoned MTN and was given a reference number that confirms the number has been blacklisted. The IMEI Number in question is ********** ********** 7 which they say does not exist

When we phoned again on Friday 19 August 2016 I was told that the IMEI number that I had supp**** does not exist, the person who blacklisted the IMEI number blacklisted the wrong IMEI number which is ********** ********** 7 and at MTN they are telling me that the IMEI number supp**** does not exist yet the number that I was using was working fine. What I would like to know is that how can an IMEI number not exist whereas the number was working ?

I am afraid that the insurance will decline my claim and that I would have to buy a new phone instead, please help me
