*******ly subscribed to mtnplay services. Not even an MTN customer.

At 15:33 today I received two SMSes from + ********** 686 advising me I'd been subscribed to mtnplay services Worldcup TV and Cars TV for R2.00 / day each. Firstly, I am not even an MTN customer, so how I would have accessed this service is beyond me. Secondly, I never have and never will sign up for anything like these services. My number is in no way connected to MTN. I see there are more complaints just like mine, one from someone else who is not an MTN subscriber. Instead of continually passing the buck perhaps look into your systems and "partners" and maybe actually implement that double opt-in feature you claim to have. I received no SMS asking me to confirm or deny my subscription, and because I am not an MTN customer I cannot use the MMI codes to opt out. I thought when I got rid of my MTN contract years ago my frustrations with them would end. Apparently not. Please contact me to remove any subscriptions I have been signed up for *******ly by yourselves.

Thank you for removing the subscriptions so fast. I received SMSes confirming it and I really do appreciate it. Would you be able to explain how I was subscribed in the first place though? Or why MTN has access to a cellphone number of mine that has nothing to do with them, and is able to sign me up for a service like mtnplay that I barely know exists? Thank you.
