Identity Theft and still no Word from MTN

I wrote a review on an incident of theft involving MTN recently, because somebody stole my identity and upgraded my internet account by a large amount, then had an expensive phone delivered to a shopping centre in Kwa Zulu Natal. I contacted MTN over this and received files about the incident. The de*****ed amount was refunded and the internet account closed.

The police would not open a case - without which I cannot report the identity theft and protect myself in future - because MTN would not inform me whether the crime was committed using a **** ID book with my details or if somebody had simply phoned the branch in Kwa Zulu Natal.

I also still required the exact address of the location of the MTN store. MTN made the address available, but not the fact, whether a **** ID book was used, despite their promise to do so and don't seem to take this very seriously.

I'm considering legal action.

Reviewer Update

Hi Itumeleng,

This is not my first complaint and the ***** department has all my details. I saw Trevashen from the ***** department at Weltevreden Park and had Alice phone me and take care of my complaint already. I just need the information required by the police, so I can get a case number to apply for ID ***** protection. For some reason this is not happening.

But sure, why not wait 1/2 hour for someone to answer 808 and be inconvenienced even more? I just love standard answers and passing the buck.
