I WANT THIS CONTRACT CANCELED!
To whom it may concern, I would like to bring to your attention the ******* activity and poor service of MTN store G6, Fountains Mall with branch manager Tieneke Zeelie. I entered into a 24 month contract agreement with MTN at this store in November 2018 and January 2019 for two devices respectively. I continued paying as per the agreement, but unfortunately missed a number of payments. The account was handed over to an external debt collector to whom I paid R7000.00 in March 2020 and R7500.00 in September 2020, after which I was due to pay the remaining month's of the contract until November 2020 and January 2021. The debt collector stated that I am clear on the monies owed to MTN and that MTN would reactivate my account.
To my surprise, in November 2020 when I went into the store for the cancelation of the first contract, the branch manager told me that I have a new 24 month contract with MTN that was due to end in 2023. Apart from that I couldn't cancel the agreement without paying an early cancelation fee because of this new contract that I supposedly entered into. When I queried this new contract, no one could explain how it happened without my authorization. They didn't even have a copy of the new contract agreement. I therefore stated that I will not be paying anyoney to MTN until this issue was resolved. They lodged the issue with MTN and requested me to return with copies of my contracts which I did. I was referred to MTN call centre, the Legal department, and Complaints department.
The branch manager stated that I was supposed to request the legal department to alter my contract to reflect that it ends in November 2020 and January 2021 and that the new contract was erroneous. I have been trying to contact the referred departments since November 2020 but to no avail as none of the departments have resolved my issue. Instead I keep being sent from one to the other as no one is willing to resolve my issue. In May 2021 I paid +R4000.00 to MTN for the remaining months of my contract that I had not paid for from November to January 2021. In the meantime MTN is continuing to bill my account and the money is accumulating. Now I received an sms and email that MTN has handed over the account to another debt collection company and I owe +R6000.00. I really need assistance with this issue as it has been affecting my credit scoring. MTN had the decency to tell me that they waivered the fee of +R20 000.00 for a business owner who wanted to enter into a new contract. But they are clearly targeting the low income earners such as myself and billing for things that have not been agreed upon. Due to my financial inability to take MTN to court, I am unfortunate to be treated like this by MTN.
Now MTN does not want to cancel my contract any longer. I want this contract canceled IMMEDIATELY.
From the call centre, the legal department and the complaints line have all given me multiple references for my issue and some of their amounts have started from 300 to 5000 on the same day
They even stated that they have started using a new system that is only understood by indians
The billing was piling up while my credit scoring kept being affected by this issue that no one was fixing from November 2020. I am just an individual and do not have the financial resources to take such a big company like MTN to court.
