I WANT MY NUMBER BACK

About a year ago I would've moved from MTN to Vodacom. But the service was so bad I went BACK to MTN within 24hrs (rather the devil you know). In the whole process I did a number port but couldn't port it back to MTN. Have 2 wait for 3 months. Now when I finally made the effort to get my number back every department at Vodacom tells me it's been recycled but the porting department said as it came from MTN to begin with they can take it back. When I phoned MTN I got the same answer. 8 call, 2 visits and a total of 6-8 hours I'll never get back and I just get the run around. Just indicative of how the private sector's monopoly isn't much different to our Government.

Vodacom’s reply16 Sep 2025 at 10:27Dear Gedry , Thank you for the time and effort taken to voice your dissatisfaction to our office. It is with the cooperation and feedback from valued clients such as yourself that we are able to identify any areas of improvement within our organisation. As per discussion this morning regarding number ending in 6665.

As per our Porting Desk:

The number although deleted was not yet returned to MTN and it is still with Vodacom so the line can be used again on contract.
Please contact MTN and they will request for the number to be returned to MTN so that you can activate the line on their side. MTN must request it because if we return the number to MTN then it might be given to someone else.
Contact MTN then they will send the request to us to return the number to MTN.
