I want my money now

Title: UPDATE: MTN has acknowledged my refund, but I still have no confirmed payment date

I am updating my previous complaint regarding MTN deducting money from my bank account after I had already paid my account.

To recap:

* Friday, 30 October 2026: I manually paid my MTN account in the morning. * Saturday, 31 October 2026, at approximately 00:30: MTN deducted the same amount from my bank account again.

I contacted MTN and received the following references:

MTN Case Number: ***

Banking Refund Reference: ***

MTN has now confirmed via WhatsApp that its Banking Department logged the refund request and that the money will be refunded directly into my bank account.

However, when I asked how long the refund would take, MTN could not provide an exact turnaround time or payment date.

I have now also submitted a formal complaint via email to MTN's Complaints Department.

What I find unacceptable is that MTN was able to deduct my money within hours of me manually paying my account, but I am now left waiting an unknown amount of time for money that should never have been taken in the first place.

I have explained to MTN that I urgently need these funds for an important family commitment, as I need to travel to spread my late mother's ashes.

This is an incredibly difficult personal time, and having to chase a telecommunications company for a refund resulting from a duplicate debit is adding unnecessary stress.

I am not asking for special treatment. I am asking MTN to take accountability for its billing error and return my money without unnecessary delays.

MTN, I need answers:

1. When exactly will my refund reflect? 2. Has the refund been approved and released by the Banking Department? 3. Why should customers wait days or potentially weeks to recover money deducted incorrectly by MTN?

I would appreciate an actual resolution rather than another generic response asking me to be patient.

I look forward to MTN resolving this matter urgently.
