I'm speechless

After months of deliberation, I decided to renew my contract with MTN, who I’ve been with for 18 years. I signed up at the Eastgate MTN branch on 11 February 2016 and opted for the Microsoft 950 phone. It was not even a week later when I noticed the battery life was slowly deteriorating more and more every day. It was past the initial 7 day exchange period. I reverted back to my old phone and eventually got time and went back to Eastgate – they booked the phone in for warranty repair and said it would take a week. A month passed and I had heard nothing, went back to the store who told me it is out of their hands, I need to go to the repair centre in Midrand. I went to the repair centre in Midrand who told me they could not find the phone and it looks like it was sent to Port Elizabeth by mistake. I called for the supervisor, his name was Suyash Knowlaser, who told me he would trace the phone and get it back to JHB and also then call me the next day to give me feedback. Needless to say, he NEVER called. A week later I called the repair call centre and spoke to a lady called Eleanor who said she will follow up and get back to me urgently. Needless to say she never called me back. It is now almost 4 months since I renewed my contract with MTN which I am paying on average R2000 for a month with no phone to use. I called the repair centre today and was told my phone is beyond repair because it has water damage and that I must pay R325 to get the broken phone back. Water damage, my ass. That phone was faulty from the start and never came close to water or liquid of any sort. I have spent THOUSANDS of rand with MTN over the years. This is my last contract with MTN. I will never renew with them again. I’m completely frustrated with the situation, their client services is non-existing and they are lying about my phone. Utterly disappointing.
