Huge disappointment! If you want to run a business for businesses, at least learn what the definition of a business is!

I app**** for a contract with MTN Business on 5 April 2020. I have dealt with three different agents during this time. It is now 29 June 2020 and I have had no luck. All of the agents were very helpful for a few days until they suddenly disappeared and I never heard from them again.

I was informed that the vetting department cannot approve my application as operating as a sole proprietor does not count as running a business. I sent MTN the definition of a business and tried to explain to them the difference between a business and a company, they did not understand. I submitted my SARS documentation to MTN to prove to them that I pay provisional tax and not PAYE, they said this was not enough. Then the agent told me that they had another client who operate as a sole proprietor whose application was approved, because he is an accountant and belongs to a professional body. I then explained to the agent that all accountants belong to a professional body even if you are employed so it shouldn't even be taken into consideration. I have requested to speak to a manager but none of the agents would put me in contact with a manager.

I have been friendly and patient and helpful, but the agents do not even have the decency to answer my calls or respond to my mails.

It sucks MTN, I was really looking forward to switching to MTN but it has been one huge disappointing journey. I hope that someone in management will read this and take the time to train your staff on the types of businesses that apply to South African law.
