Hostage to a contract for service that is not supported
MTN have taken a business decision that it is not cost effective to provide battery back up to some of their servers. The result is that during load shedding, ALL such servers on the entire network go down until ALL their non-backed up servers have power restored. WiFi and LTE services are disrupted.
In essence the service may be down if any adjacent network regions, have load shedding. Consequentially, service is disrupted for periods long extending local load shedding, until all such network regions have power restored.
When it is restored the systems are not synchronised and you have to call in and switch of your router for 15 minutes. This process has to be done numerous times per day. Refusing to support a service and then holding customers hostage to a contract is similar to letting a property and not giving the tenant access to it. MTN are not responding to my complaints which effects all customers in our agricultural region.
