Horrific Service!

I've been with MTN for over four years now, but after the last few months, I want them out of my life. Unfortunately, I still have another year left on my contract. I had two contracts with them and in March, I asked them to migrate the second one to prepaid. After getting my bill in April, I called to find out why. They said it was never migrated and they didn't know why. They also told me it should have been migrated at the time I made the request. So they escalated the issue. They even emailed me regarding my request and could give me dates of when I requested the migration, as well as when the issue was escalated. I don't know what escalating the issue accomplished, because when I called at a later stage, nothing had been done. I was told by one of the agents that I would get a refund. Of course that never happened, instead I had to pay them for yet another month. I would have refused paying them, but my primary contract was linked to the second one, so that meant not paying them would result in them suspending my outgoing call facility. There's no winning! Eventually, the contract was migrated...after going to the store to do it. The person at the store told me its better to do it in the store in person, as the agents on the phone didn't process my request and MTN was probably trying to keep me as a client. So all in all, I paid an extra two months which could have been avoided had they processed my request to begin with.

The other reason I went to the store was to take my phone in for repairs. The phone was freezing on startup and the speaker was faulty. This was all checked in the store, notes were made and I have the documentation to prove it. I've had the phone for about eight months, meaning that they wouldn't replace it (only phones under six months get replaced), but it would be sent away for repairs. I was told it could take up to ten days, but would most likely be back in about five days. I already knew it would more likely be ten days. It wasn't. They had my phone for over four weeks! Within that time, I called the store so many times, no answer...I called the repairs centre several times as well and all they could tell me was it will probably be back by this and that date. They told me they're based in JHB and since I'm in CPT, it takes several days after being repaired, to get back to me. Eventually, it arrived and I picked it up from the store. On the first night, it froze. I took the battery out and restarted and it worked. Over the next few days it froze now and again. I did the same thing to remedy the problem. Exactly six days after I got it back, it was once again useless. I can't do anything but switch it on. Removing the battery doesn't help. Today I called the repair centre to find out exaclty what they did. The person I spoke to named Tshepo, told me it was exchanged. I asked him what that means and he rudely asked me do I understand English and do I know what the word "exchange" means. Yes, I know what "exchange" means! Was one issue exhanged with another? Was my phone exchanged with another? I know that wasn't the case. I received the same phone back (same serial number) with the same issues and more. So he told me that the speaker was replaced. I asked him what about the other issue and he asked me what issue. So I told him and he said its not what is shown on the system. I told him it's clearly written on the documents I have and all he could say was that its not on the system and I will have to take the phone back to the store to send it back to them. Tomorrow I'll be heading off to the repairs centre in CPT, as I heard that there actually is one here. Even one of the ladies in the store told me there's a repair centre here and she doesn't know why they told me it went to JHB. I really don't know what to make of MTN anymore. And if I take it to the store, it could be gone for another four weeks or more. And here I am paying a contract and not even benefiting from having the phone I'm paying for. So now it lookes like my best option is taking time from work and going directly to the repairs centre and see what can be done from there. Thanks, MTN!

I wonder if CellC will buy out my contract...
