Horrible service with Salesman at MTN Canal Walk
I am extremely unhappy with the service that I've received from a Salesman at the MTN Canal Walk branch.
This is regarding a debit order that I am being overcharged for , for the second month in a row.
The first encounter was on 28/02/2023 , this was when my partner and I were interested in the trade-in deal for a S23 with 512GB storage (trading in a iPhone13 128GB). We completed all the paper work and ultimately we were told to come back because fingerprints did not "pull through".
There was a whole back-and-forth regarding the fingerprint issue because the Salesman was not there on the day we needed to fix the issue - his colleague who "assisted" was very unhelpful and disinterested in helping us, stating that the deal for the S23 was no longer available and we have to settle for the 128GB - we then left the branch - unhelped.
The Salesman then called the day after to find out what had happened and that everything is in order because there was a misunderstanding on his colleague's end. We then had to return to the branch ONCE AGAIN on 03/03/2023.
We then started from scratch with the paperwork where everything was finalized. We made a 100% sure about the deal, which was - a S23 512GB R599 p/m when we trade-in but when I check the app it stimpulates payment due of R999.
The first debit order took place on 31/03/2023: R1103.51. On the 01/04/2023 , we reported this to the Salesman- who at first tried arguing that it was the pro-rata fees , but eventually he realized the error on HIS SIDE : the deal was never finalized as a trade-in , instead it was created as a normal contract. This comes after MTN is already sitting with my iPhone 13 yet I'm paying full price.
This ticket was logged and yet there is no urgency on the Salesman's end. He was messaged on whatsapp for an update , and he NOW wants to involve management once we've threatened to escalate this to the complaints team at head office.
Meanwhile , the second debit order took place 29/04/2023: R1009.00 . So it seems that nothing has been done for the entire month of April - and it will continue to occur if I don't voice my concerns.
In addition to the debit order issue, upon obtaining the phone , we purchased a silicon screen guard on 03/03/2023 and the Salesman ensured a 7 day return policy should there be any bubbles. We went back on the 10/03/2023 due to bubbles forming with the screen guard. We then had a discrepancy with one of the other MTN guy stating that the 03/03/2023 INCLUDES the 7day policy - when in fact the policy is 7days AFTER purchase. When the Salesman availed himself to assist us , he proceeded to remove the screenguard without permission in efforts to fix the bubbles and it turn made matters worse. I am now still sitting with a silicon screen guard with bubbles.
Please reimburse the money that is owed to me with regard to agreed upon terms in the contract (R400 for March and R400 for April). I would absolutely not recommend MTN to any friends and family since these concerns do not get treated with a sense of urgency after the contract is already signed. Please also replace or refund the screenguard since we were well within the 7day return period.
