Horrible MTN Charges on Termination

Horrible charges when terminating MTN cellphone contract! Currently left with 3 months on a 24 months contract, paying R612 per month. I was quoted R3700 to cancel my contract which is over double the total remaining for 3 months!

According to the Consumer Protection Act, "the cancellation charge may not have the effect of negating the consumer’s right to cancel a fixed term agreement. In other words, the regulations specifically prohibit charging a consumer the full amount owing in respect of the remainder of the contract."
