Horrible customer care.
So I signed up for a contract with MTN(Gateway, Durban) late December 2018. Had issues with my contract from day one when I realized that the device I was sold had a dual SIM function, but it was disabled by MTN. I of course made a Visit to MTN to cancel the contract as I had specifically signed up because I wanted to keep on Using the same network I had been using for several years without porting. I was unpleasantly surprised when I was advised that they can terminate the contract, but they would black list me since I was trying to get put of an agreement I had agreed to not even 4 days prior. Not wanting to cause trouble for myself, I kept the device and decided that I would just not use the MTN SIM so I could use my other one. After all this was said and done, the lady helping me did not even take a record of conversation or anything on their system. Fast forward to about 2 weeks later, I'm constantly having issues with the device(HLTE310E), I could never put the phone in my pocket for even 5 minutes before it would over heat, shut down and advise me that the "System had been broken", where I would then have to wait at least an hour for the device to work again. Went to the store again of course to report the issue, some sales guy working for hisense in the store takes a look at my phone and advises me that it looks fine, and the phone probably needs an update. So I leave, get the latest firmware update for the phone and surprise surprise, the problem persists. But I'm not going to waste my time with MTN again, so I decide to not keep my phone in my pocket ever(Yes I've always had my phone in my had whenever I'm out of the house for the past 9 months), the phone would still stop working of course, but it was not as frequent. So now it's October, first week of October, the phone stops working(gets stuck on the welcome screen), so I take it to the MTN store again, they take my phone, send me and email five days later advising me to pick up the device as the new policy does not allow the carrier to fix the device, so now I have to go to the Hi-sense repair center in 26 Crassula Rd. Haven't time to do this of course as I never have time to go to the place, which will be at my cost to request a ride since there is no public transport to the area. So, I go to MTN again to ask if they can at least send the device to the repair place on my behalf, since I have a contract with them. I looked like an idiot to the lady I guess since she just rolled her eyes at me and told me I have to take it myself. So now its nearly a full month. MTN has taken its debit order, but I'm still without a working device.
