Highly Disappointed Loyal

I have been with the Network in excess of 16 years with the same number as a prepaid customer turned contract later in the relationship

Towards the end of my contract, I had some difficulty in maintaining payments and my account ended up in areas and Ultimately got handed over to VVM.

My experience in trying to get the contract cancelled has been a costly nightmare to say the least. In August 2020 I went to a MTN branch were I was advised to pay an outstanding amount upwards of R1400 which I did pay. In addition, I was advised it would take some time to get the contract handed back to MTN as it was with VVM (debt collector) which I waited a few days and made contact with MTN again and requested they cancel the contract. To my ignorance, I did not request proof from them to say the request was done which led to me rating this company on this platform

A few months later in March 2021 when reviewing my Credit score, I saw MTN popping up as an account in areas/default on my profile which then prompted me to enquire around the whole thing. That is when I was told that I am owing an amount upwards of R1000, mind you in my mind this was cancelled months prior to this coming up again.

Today (26.05.2021) I visited MTN Alberton and was assisted by a gentleman by the name of Mario (very professional and helpful - a rare breed in my 16+ years of having to deal with MTN) who accessed my account and advised the amount had gone up to R1313.92 which I paid and asked he advised how to go about canceling the account once and for all (as he could see how gatvol I am with MTN)

The disappointing part in addition to all the above, you phone their 083 135 (I am a Cell C customer now) number and there's no option to speak to a consultant or lead you to someone that can assist you. I then had to borrow a phone from someone on the network to dial 135 directly, was transferred to cancelations who advised the working hours are 8 to 5 and still I will not be able to rid myself of this curse of Service provider. In this day and age, how do you only have telephone as the only medium of communication when one wants to transact with such a large organization? Apparently you can only do a cancelation via telephone at MTN, and you vmcan only do this between 8 and 5! As told by "KARABO"

It feels again that they do everything to lure you in and once you're in, they don't care as long as your account is being billed amd your name gets dragged

In all of this, do note that I have not owned or used an MTN sim card in over 2 years

Your Extremely disappointed once loyal customer, P. Machate
