Haven't received my phone in +6 weeks!

I bought a Sony Xperia Z3 Compact on contract from MTN Hatfield Plaza, in Pretoria. I had the device for 6 months when the screen started to peel off. I took it to MTN in Brooklyn Mall and was advised by the assistant that this is a common problem that he has seen with many 'waterproof' Xperia smartphones, and he recommended that I take it to the MTN store I had brought it from. I went on to take it to the Hatfield Plaza MTN store, where I was sent from pillar to post for the whole afternoon regarding what documentation I should provide when bringing the phone in for an exchange/repair. After handing the device over to be repaired (since I apparently didn't qualify to have it replaced), I waited for 3 weeks without hearing anything from the shop. On the third week, I visited the shop again to enquire on the status of my device, and I was told that it is awaiting parts in the Midrand repair centre. I was promised that I would get a call from them on my office landline within a week from then, with an update on when I can get my device. It's 3 weeks later now and I have heard nothing from MTN. On Wednesday this week (3 May 2016) I Tweeted @MTNza and @MTNZAService and sent a DM with details of the issue. I have received no feedback from their social media team either, and I am growing increasingly frustrated with this level of service. Are there any legal avenues I can explore to take action against them? What does the Consumer Protection Act say about issues of this nature?
