Hauwei Y7 2019. Poor and faulty screens.

Could you help me getting in touch with Huawei. My brother and I got a 2019 Y7 on Friday from MTN and both of our screens cracked on Sunday evening. Coincidence? Before that, my touch screen wasn't working efficiently either. My phone fell with an approximate height of half a meter. My brother's screen cracked through having it under his leg. I went to MTN ASAP yesterday. They don't want to replace the phones because it's physical damage. To book it in, it's going to cost +- R1500.

After the consultant told me yesterday that Huawei doesn't really do repairs and that they usually do an "exchange" with a small fee for a new phone, which works out cheaper. Note: it's on contract. According to everyone else, that's a manufacturing fault. So MTN expected me to protect the phone with a cover and tempered glass. But when I got the phone I asked them for covers etc but they don't have stock yet. Neither did the other shops have covers and screen protectors for this phone, because it's a "new phone on the market". So I ask, whose fault is that? Maybe if I could of gotten a cover it wouldn't have happened. Phones are made these days so that you have to buy protection for it, but now no one has covers etc. Infact the sales consultant would have phoned me to tell me where I could get a cover etc and never did.

And a screen cracking like this on its first fall? Poor quality!

I have read that screens are a common issue with this phone.

Good day

Thank you for your post.

We are terribly sorry for the inconveniences that you experienced as a result of this. We completely understand the frustration it causes.

As the store has correctly advised, and as stated in your subscriber agreement, MTN and the manufacturer are not liable for physical damage on devices.

You can contact Huawei on ***for their nearest service center and for options they might offer.

Warm regards,
