Good bye MTN

I am not sure if I should be sad, shocked or straight out upset. I took out a Laptop data deal with MTN arround three years ago. For two years I havent had any big issues, and things went according as they should. However at the end of the two years, I noticed that my account was suddenly 750 instead of 400 rand. I assumed that we went over the monthly limit, but when I reallised my account was 750 rand for consecutive months I went to MTN to inquire about the issue. I was informed that i had upgraded in October to a phone contract. Needless to say that was the first time I had heard about that. Now here is were my frustration with MTN really started. I was told that I have to go to the police to get an avidavit to say that it was not me that took out the contract, get sertified copies of my ID and drivers liscence etc. After handing them in my account was billed at 400 rand again. however this was now past my contract time with MTN and the laptop was fully paid off. So a querry was logged, and I was told that I cannot stop the contract now, until the querry was resolved. week after week i went to our local MTN shop to inquire about the query. IT took more than 4 months until I was told the laptop was finally taken of my account and that I would only pay for the DATA from now on. I now had around 2000 rand credit with MTN. And so month after month nothing was deducted from my account, and my statements indicated that the monthly data fee was deducted from my credit. When I decided to take out a new contract, (upgrade the 2GB data contract to a 10GB contract), I was told my account is blocked since I owe MTN money. However on the system it showed that MTN actually owes me. i was told that it will take them 8 hours to rectify this problem and that I would be called the next day to complete the upgrade. - No phone call. When I went to them the following week, i was told that no one had responded to the problem. again I was promised to be phoned within the hour, again no call. I went back and told that nothing had been done. Again a querry was logged. A week later still nothing. My biggest frustration is that there is no one taking responsibility for MTNs mistake, and the only one suffering is me the customer. How much time have I spend driving to the store, waiting in line, just to be given false promises. Since I needed DATA urgently I went to VODACOM, who was able to help me straight away. within 20min I walked out with a WiFi router and 10GB of DATA per month. I went to MTN to cancel my Contract, and was told that if I do i will not receive the money back that MTN owes me. WHAT?? I need to request the money first and then I can cancel my contract. The payback request was made today 17th January 2017 and was told it will take a week. Then I will be able to cancel my contract. Last time I was promised it will take a week it took more than 4 months, in which I had to pay. My question remains why do I have to pay for their mistake. There is no manager that would take the time and matter into his own hands and help their customer. So I am sad, shocked and frustrated. MTN you have lost a customer, that didnt want to leave.
