********** Upgrade of Account

On Sa****ay the 4th June 2016 it became evident to me that there was an issue with my MTN LTE router as I was unable to connect to the internet. As this has happened before when MTN has had technical issues, I did not pursue at the time.

On Monday the 6th of June however it was still not sorted so started doing some troubleshooting which ruled the modem out as having a problem and that there was an issue with the sim card.

After three phone calls and speaking to no less than 4 people at MTN and holding for over 30 minutes, I was advised that an upgrade had been done on my account and a sim swap was also performed. This was done in Cape Town on Friday the 3rd June. As I stay in Johannesburg it was certainly not me who performed this upgrade.

I have 4 contract accounts with MTN as well as a good number of pre-paid sims and honestly expect better service from MTN. MTN advised me that I need an affidavit in order to resolve. As I am currently recovering from a back operation and am unable to drive or sit, I cannot get a formal affidavit and sent a letter with the details.

I explained to the consultant at the 808 number as well as Horatio (manager) that as this was not my doing, it is an MTN error and as such I do not see why it should become my problem to resolve and that they need to do what is necessery to resolve.

I have been in constant contact with MTN to try and resolve and it is now a week later and the problem is still not resolved. Further to this the people that promised me they would resolve on Tuesday already, are blatantly ignoring me...

All that I seem to get from MTN are apologies, NOT SERVICE!

So Horatio did get back to me and advised that he has once again escalated and that I now need to wait another 3 days! Absolutely unacceptable. How do I get this matter the focus it needs to get resolved? It is now week 2 that I do not have internet. I intend to cancel this contract as soon as I can, i.e. once MTN can actully sort this out... I truley hope that I will not be billed for the upgrade or the revised contract amount??
