********** subscription to MTN play

I tried contacting MTN via the "Contact Us" page yesterday, but received no response.

I keep getting SMSs like this: "REMINDER: You are subscribed to YD Games at R2.00 per day. To Opt out dial *464*970#. Your next renewal date is tomorrow."

I also received this two days ago: "Y'ello, this is a friendly reminder that you have exceeded 90 % of your Credit Limit of R 384.00. Kind Regards, MTNSA"

In probably 18 years of being an MTN customer I have never, and *will never* subscribe to this kind of *******.

I don't know how this kind of ***** is permissible on the MTN network. It really casts doubts that I, as a subscriber, am safe using MTN at all. What's in store next? A ********** sim swap?

I have noted that this problem is prevalent -- there are numerous complaints on this site and others regarding this exact problem.

Kindly: 1) remove all subscriptions to these "value-add" services. 2) block this from happening again and prevent MTN play from contacting me. 3) refund the amounts.

I am overseas and on roaming. No idea if you can contact me since MTN-play seems to have eaten my credit. Email only. You have my email address on my account.

Good day Michael,

Thank you for taking the time to raise your concerns and affording us the opportunity to address the same. Kindly accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Please note that there are different content charges. One way of removing them is by dialing *136# and follow the MTN play option until you get to manage subscriptions. The second way to remove the said charge is by logging on to your browser from your device. I have attached the below instructions in order to remove the charge:

Q - How do I cancel a subscription?
Visit the ‘My Subscriptions’ category under ‘My MTN Play’ at WWW.MTNPLAY.CO.ZA on your mobile device. Select the subscription and deactivate.

Kind regards,

Ishie.

Complaints Management Team.

Best regards,

That is not an acceptable response. I have never signed up for MTN play, and therefore I require YOU to remove all subscriptions and REFUND the amounts concerned. Telling me how to remove something I didn't sign up for is next to useless. Also, you have not said how it was POSSIBLE for this to happen. How can I PREVENT this from ever happening again? Remember, I did not sign up in the first place. Presumably, this will just happen again. Seriously, please ESCALATE this to someone who can sort it out. If you cannot do so, I will be forced to leave MTN; there's no way I'm chasing up rogue MTN play subscriptions or paying for them. Again, note -- please contact me on my account email address.
