********** Billing on my account

MTN allows third party content service providers to start billing ********** charges on my accounts and continue to do so even after canceling these services manually time after time. These Data Only contracts are allocated to SIM cards that are in DATA MODEMS (ie it is impossible to opt-in) but somehow MTN Allows the Service providers to repeatedly begin charging content services to a Data Modem. This has been reported more than a few times so it is not like it is a new and random problem. I want to open a ***** Case against the service provider and a case on negligence on the part of MTN with the Consumer Commission.

Dear MTN (I say MTN because your well meaning employees like Alice ven der Merwe are not to blame for Company Policy), This "cut and paste" response is not acceptable, You are claiming that you will continue to ALLOW third Party Service providers to **********ly bill my Account, IE. you are at the very least not exercising the REQUIRED care with respect to private information and at worst LIKELY Complicit in the act of ********** charges. DID YOU VERIFY MY REQUEST to allow these charges? DID YOU DETERMINE THE IMPACT of the increased charges on my account and determine my affordability? DID YOU OBTAIN MY PERMISSION to deduct additional charges? IF NOT YOU (MTN) are in contravention of the Consumer Protection Act. This has nothing to do with the third Party service provider, You say you do not refund Content Charges, OK, I DO NOT WANT A REFUND, I WANT IT PREVENTED FROM HAPPENING EVER AGAIN!!!! If you check the access towers you will find these DATA modems are spread all over the country, It will cost me considerably to go to each modem and perform the steps you suggest. ARE You telling me that as advanced MTN claim to be they cannot perform these steps or block additional services on my behalf at my request! All over the World Communications Service Providers have a thing called "Preference" or "Privacy Options" South African Service Providers including MTN make too much money from illicit SPAM and unwanted advertising to institute such options, after all, you would loose more than half your SMS based Revenue! Why enable a block option for ********** Content Charges when you make so much money from the commission you (MTN) make from such charges? If only I had the funds to pursue this to the highest Authority, You know I don't so you just brush me aside like so many other similar complaints - This should be a Class Action not an individual crusade, MTN should pay attention and resolve this honorably but then that would be real customer service, something South Africans have heard about but seldom experienced.

Oh and by the way, The Content Provider, whose name you neglected to provide, their number is unobtainable according to Telkom. Seems strange that a MTN partner should not be able to be contacted or at least have current contact details lodged with their partner. How can you allow them to institute charges if they cant even be contacted on their listed number. Reminds me of a Nigerian ****!
