********** activity MTN and Rewardsco
I have an MTN account, with comprises of two cellphone contracts.
During January 2020 I upgraded the one of the contracts as it was due after two years to a Samsung Note 10+.
In February I noted that an additional cellphone contract was added to my account with number ***. After a number of phone calls I discovered it was added by Rewardsco.
My first reaction was to report ***** to the MTN ***** department by submitting a police affidavit and copy of my ID. The MTN ***** department rep**** indicating this is not ***** which I could not believe as I have not requested or asked or signed for any other additional cell phone contract, nor have I received any new handset or the sim card with number in question.
My first call to Rewardsco in order to cancel the contract for *** was on the 19th of February 2020 with reference number 44911. Rewardsco confirmed telephonically that the handset was not delivered and it was returned to their warehouse.
Until today 18th of August 2020 this contract has not been cancelled after numerous calls to Rewardsco and MTN customer care. I have been charged for this additional ********** cell phone contract since February 2020 at R1108.45 per month which I refuse to pay.
I have however continued to pay my normal cell phone contracts monthly which amounts to R1808 per month.
Due to not paying for this additional contract MTN has now gone and suspended all my sim cards which I use as stated in the previous paragraph as this has affected my MTN account and the account is in arrears.
I have contacted ICASA and await feedback.
