*****. The ******* port of my mobile number (Vodacom to MTN) and theft of money

Be careful people, be very careful! I was recently a victim of sim swap *****, and lost R3065.04

How is it possible for somebody to walk into a MTN store, with RICA in place and request a port of your number from VODACOM to MTN .. all of this without your knowledge and being overseas with your phone without ROAMING?

Below was taken directly from MTN website:

Port your number and join the MTN family * Buy an MTN SIM pack from your nearest MTN store or retail outlet * RICA your SIM card in store (you’ll need your ID and proof of residence) * Don’t insert your new SIM card yet * Use your old SIM to SMS ’PORTME#(10-digit MTN SIM number)’ to 083 767 8287, e.g., ’PORTME# ********** 000’ * You’ll receive a confirmation SMS on your current SIM that your request is being processed * Insert your new MTN SIM card into your device the following day * Select ’New number’ to activate your new SIM

As per our records a port reversal was done.

Kindly note a sim swap will need to be done before a number is ported, please have this investigated by your service provider as well. The Information provided on the website is for ease of reference for our customers.

- Yes, a reversal was done, per MY request. - This matter was also reported to VODACOM's ***** department. - This statement is INCORRECT. "The Information provided on the website is for ease of reference for our customers." This is information is in public domain for any potential customer! The problem still remains. How did MTN authorize this ******* porting of my number without my RICA documentation!!?
