***** ref *** (amongst 3 other references)
My car was broken into at approx 16h45 on 8 Oct 2015 and my laptop and iPad were ******. I erased my iPad immediately, using Find My IPhone. SAPS advised me to make a statement at the Police Station, which I did and received a case number the same day. I phoned 808 when I got home from the Police Station at approx 20h00 to cancel my SIM card and blacklist the device, but after answering what seemed to be 300 questions to prove my identity, I was told that MTN could not cancel my SIM or blacklist the device without the IMEI number, even though it was on the screen in front of the consultant - I don't walk around with that info in my head. I blacklisted the device and SIM later on (with more difficulty but no space here for that) when I found the IMEI number. I then received an account for R7500 which was rung up after the theft of my iPad but before I blacklisted (apparently, although I have seen no proof of this.) I have to date received 3 ref numbers, but not one call since I reported it a month ago, and now 4 days before my debit order comes off, I'm told I have to pay, even though the device was ****** and not in my possession. Convenient for them and not for me! Disgusted!!
