***** on my account being IGNORED

Over 1 year ago I cancelled my contract with MTN, and went over to prepaid. Three months ago a debit order from MTN went off my account. I assumed it was for the outstanding fees on the contract I cancelled. Last month, a massive debit order from MTN went off my account. I visited my nearest branch, and it was determined someone took out a contract in my name using my old contract account number.

I handed in all the paperwork to report this *****, and received a reference number. This was last month, and I have heard nothing from MTN since. I tried to phone 808, but without a contract, I cannot talk to anyone. My emails are being ignored.

I have reversed all the debit orders - third one at the end of this month and I will get blacklisted - all due to the lack of interest from MTN. Well played, MTN.

Reviewer Update

Thank you Siphumezo for your swift reply. I now also received an email from MTN stating that my account was closed on 27 May.

The biggest disappointment is that I once again had to resort to hellopeter to resolve this - the usual channels of communication were ineffective. Surely this should not be necessary every time I have a problem?
