*****, lies, incompetence
In 2008, I took out a contract with MTN. In 2010, I discontinued the contract. I was told that if I didn't use the contract for 3 months, it would be automatically cancelled. This is only partially true. The number was given to a new subscriber, however my bank details remained attached to the account. Granted, I am terrible at checking every single debit order as it goes off every month, so I only picked this up recently. When I went to a shop, I was shown the details of the new subscriber and told to phone head office. The service consultant claimed that the blame lies solely with me. My suggestion is that if you are currently in the process of switching networks, make sure that MTN has removed you from their system (visit a store). If you are currently on an MTN contract, good luck with their customer service, they're pretty *****.
