***** investigation costing me money

Knowing that my 2yr contract ends in November 2015, I went to the MTN store in Liberty Midlands mall to DOWNGRADE. The lady attending to me informed me it was too late but I should make the decision on which package before 21/12/2015. She also told me I needed to call 809 (MTN number since I am corporate client). Armed with a brochure and her suggestions I happily went home. On 02/12/2015 I received an sms thanking me for my upgrade. I called MTN and got no response from the numbers I was given until ***. After explaining I had not authorised an upgrade, I was informed to submit an affidavit confirming that. I did that. To date, I have talked to more than 5 people who tell me the ***** investigation is continuing. In the meantime, Im stuck with a contract I cannot afford. I cant even cancel and use another service provider. On indicating this, I was informed I would be refunded the costs of the ********** upgrade. Why am I being punished for someone elses mistake?

Hello Puffyfudge,

Thank you for your post

We are terribly sorry for the inconveniences that you experienced as a result of this. We completely understand the frustration it causes.

The matter was resolved on 2016/01/27 reference number: ***. The term date has been reversed to 2015-11-13, the upgrade is cancelled and an amount of R498.00 was credited on 2016-02-11 for the difference in subscription that was billed during the period that your line was on the upgraded package.

We sincerely hope that the above is in order and that we are able to restore your faith in us.

Kind Regards
Siphumezo
