A few months ago, MTN allowed a random person to walk into their store and sign up for a contract in my name. They then proceeded to take thousands from my account every month without my authorization, this despite me coming into a branch and explaining that I had never signed up for an account.
Now, their legal department calls me three times per day and threatens legal action if I don't jump through a series of hoops.
How is it my responsibility to clean up their mess?
1. They allowed someone to sign up for a contract in my name without verifying their identity.
2. They stole money from my account month after month despite my explanation.
3. Now they're threatening action if I don't fix their mistake.
Not only should they clean up their own mess, but they should refund my money and pay me damages.
Every time I get a call, I ask to speak to a manager and I am told that that isn't an option. What the hell?
