Fool me once...shame on you! Fool me twice...shame on me!
Where to start....Was looking at upgrading to an iPhone for my daughter for her 18th Birthday. Was promised stock through their Mondo partner that would be delivered within 3-days. Aafter a week of not receiving the device as promised, I cancelled the order and found stock from another provider that came in time for Christmas present. On the 21st December, I contacted cancellations department to find out how to go about cancelling the contract.....btw, It takes a minimum of four attempts to get succesfully transferred to cancellations....and was given a settlement amount that I was told to pay at a MTN store. On the 28th December, I phoned again to get an updated amount....4 droppped calls later I eventually spoke to someone who gave me a revised (higher) amount. I went to the Mtn store as directed and paid the amount. I phoned back...and 4 attempts later I spoke to cancellations who informed me that I should speak to retentions department. Several attaempts later I eventually spoke to someone at retentions who informed me tha the amount is not reflecting and that it would take 48-hours before it reflects! After querying this I was told that someone would phone me the following morning to give me an update on the payment. That call never came. 30 December - After several attempts I spoke to a service "champion" who informed me that the number can only be cancelled if the amount owed for December is settled in full and that that the previous person(s) I spoke to was supposed to have given me a consolidated amount to pay?! I was given the balance owing and paid that in full at a MTN store where I was guaranteed that the amount would reflect immediately. I phoned back and....guess what.....4 attempts later I spoke to a service champion who actually saw the payments reflect and told me that they would get this processed to the cancellation department as a matter of urgency and that someone would phone me back. 31 December - Today marks day 10 in what is possibly the most frustrating process of my life! Still can't get hold of cancellations despite trying from 10:54 today. After attempt 3 I was told that they are offline now and cannot transfer me. It is now 13:12 and they are still offline! Will this saga ever end? Why can a telecommunications giant like MTN not have better phone services for their call centres?? This is litterally their primary business!! Why can't we as the public communicate with you if you are in communications? Why do your calls drop constantly? Why are your sometimes offline for endless amounts of time? Why is your website so hard to navigate? Why? Why? Why?
