Faulty phone received from MTN insurance.

Hi there,

I made a claim with MTN in November as I had the misfortune of falling down a flight of stairs and cracking the screen of my phone. After much back and forth with the insurance team, I finally received a replacement phone. I was informed that it was a refurbished phone.

Since I've received the phone, I've had countless incidents where I've just lost signal and it would just say "Searching" all the time. I've called the MTN call centre about this plenty of times and they have just told me they're resetting the line and one time, a lady even told me to call the iStore as it wasn't there issue to deal with.

This happened yesterday again as I was leaving for work, after finishing work I headed off to the Waterfront and one of the consultants at the MTN store attempted to troubleshoot the issue. She inserted my sim card into a different phone and it worked then tried inserting two different sim cards into my phone and it still said "Searching" - she then did a sim swap and it still didn't work. She told me the issue is with my phone and told me that she highly suggests I buy myself a cheapie phone and return it. Its now day 2 and I'm still without a working phone.

I was in Canal Walk today and went into the iStore to see if they could assist me. After reviewing my phone and inserting a different sim card into my phone, the floor manager advised that the issue is also with the phone and that I would need a new one as this one is faulty.

When you receive a replacement phone from insurance, the phone is usually under warranty for 3 months. I would like a new phone in a sealed box as I am insured for R15 000 so not sure why I was given a refurbished faulty phone in the first place.

I look forward to you reply and getting this resolved.
