False and misleading PRICING

In the October MTN deals pamphlet (pg 27), they had a Sony Xperia XA1 Ultra that came with a free cover for R3999. At the bottom of the page it says these deals runs up to the 31/12/2017. I went the Rosebank branch on the14/12/2017 to buy this handset, where they had the same phone which a Bluetooth speaker for R6499. I said I want the one for R3999. They checked the price (speaker one) and they told me that it is going for R3999. I said that I fine I’ll take that. However, they had Black and I wanted the Gold one. They then called the Balfour park mall where they had the gold one in stock. But they were advised that for the gold the price scan at R6499 but the black one for R3999! I ended up saying that I’ll take the black one and go to another store where they have a gold one to do a swap. When I was about to pay, they told me that it now scans for R6499! I said it is fine I’ll take the one with the cover, not the speaker. They fetched that one but it also scanned for R6499!! The sent an e-mail to pricing department but were told the price is R6499. Why does MTN advertise the price that the stores cannot honour? Is this false and misleading marketing to lure prospective customers o their store. This is quite BAD. I spent more than an hour in their shop for nothing.

Good day Ncese,

Thank you for your post.

We apologize for the inconveniences that you have experienced. We completely understand the frustration it causes.

Take this as confirmation that we have received the complaint.

Unfortunately MTN has included an "E&OE"(Errors and omissions excepted) clause on the Magazine this is to reduce legal liability for potentially incorrect or incomplete information supp**** in its communication. This you will find at the bottom of all Yellow traders.

Kind Regards,
