FALSE ADVERTISING
I currently have a contract with MTN and was up for renewal since October. Went in-store to get an upgrade and I was told that they could not upgrade me with the requested phone as my number is apparently sitting in their old system. I was told that the migration to the new system would be completed on 01 November 2020.
Today I went back to the Sandton City store in order to get my upgrade, I chose a Huawei P Smart S + Huawei Watch Fit Bit, which is advertised on their website and their pamphlet for R349 per month. I was once again told that my number had still not been migrated to the new system and this deal is only on the new system. MTN does have a similar package on their old system which I could get, however this would be at R399 per month excluding the Fit Bit. I then requested to speak to the manager on duty, David as I wanted the phone together with the fitbit at R349 as per the advert and he told me that I can't get it, but he can only give me just the phone at R399 excluding the fitbit. I told him that's not what the advert said and there was not condition that I could only get the deal if I was on the new system.
I feel MTN has made their problem mine and they are doing false advertising. The manager told me that I will only be migrated by the 20th of November, which is not acceptable, taking into consideration that they said the migration would be done by 01 November.
This is false advertising and MTN is trying to rip people off by delaying the migration and getting them to pay higher than the advertised price for their products.
