I renewed my contract with MTN in April 2017 where I got the Samsung S8 hedge. Where all the precious models were insured by ADH which offered clients one free screen replacement within 12 months, MTN simply did not inform me that the warranty with ADH did no longer apply from the s8 as Sumsung changed this without telling MTN. They reason is that they did not know about the new change from Samsung, now I have a phone that is 6 months old with no warranty and and will cost me R4500 to replace the screen. I WENT TO the MTN store and they simply told me they could not help me.
Good day Olimpio,
Thank you for taking the time to raise your concerns and affording us the opportunity to address them.
Please be advised that MTN warranty policy is different from the manufacturer's warranty. The MTN warranty policy states that we do not cover physical damage repairs , while the Samsung ADH (accidental damage from handling) warranty did cover this.
Samsung has introduced a service called Samsung Mobile Care (SMC), which covers the Galaxy S8 and S8+ for accidental screen damage repairs. The service is available for R69.99 per month – with the first month free – or for a discounted once-off fee of R1299 for the two-year duration of a cellular contract.
Kindly be advised that MTN can only account for changes to the MTN warranty policy and these have not changed. Should MTN make changes, you will be notified accordingly.
We sincerely hope that this is in order and hope that we are able to restore your faith in us.
Kind Regards,
Tshepo M
