False adverti*****t and poor feedback/service

Hi there,

In January I approached MTN Menlyn Retail Park to upgrade my current contract and handset to an iPhone 5 64G on a MTNChoice 100 contract (dvertised at R369pm). I was then informed these handsets were discontinued and there was no stock left in all of South Africa. I was then informed I will be able to upgrade my handset to an iPhone 5C 16G at the same price and on the same contract, but they'll have to order me this handset (1 week waiting period). After 2 weeks, I went back to the store to find my order was unsuccessful, as these handsets have also been discontinued.

The reason why I opted for these phones were that they were affordable and I have always wanted an iPhone. Now MTN has advised me that I should settle for an iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 should I still want an iPhone (which I do). The new proposed phones are R220 to R400 more per month.
In February's brochure the iPhone 5 is once again on the same special and when we got to the store on the 1st of February were once again informed these phones are discontinued and out of stock. Isn't this bait adverti*****t and ******* as per the consumer protection act? Will you please advise, what I stand to do?
Hello EuniceApril91,

Thank you for your post,

We apologise for the delayed response and for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Please note that MTN no longer has stock of the requested device because the Iphone 5S and Iphone 6 were launched. For this particular model, you would need to visit the Istore.

Thank you
