Our company purchased a data contract in Jul-2014 with Nashua Mobile (service provider MTN) capped at 1 Gigabyte per month at R79. This contract was added to the our company's existing contract on which there were 5 other cell-phone contracts. In Nov-2014 MTN bought out Nashua Mobile. Part of the communication sent out to Nashua Mobile's existing clients was that there would be no change in the initial contract. In May-2015 we received a data bill for Apr-2015 in excess of R8,000. Whilst under query, the combined data bill over Jun-2015 and Jul-2015 amounted to R130,000. Despite several e-mails and calls querying this amount, the matter was finally delegated by Mr. Govender to an administrative clerk to deal with. The administrative clerk did not appear to have researched the matter and advised that the billing was correct and we be referred to the Ombudsman. Mr. Govender failed to respond to e-mails. The cell-phone lines for the existing cell-phones were suspended. To date MTN had not provided a detailed billing on the data contract reflecting how the amount of R130,000 was arrived at on a R79/month contract. The company has had an account with MTN since 2007.
