FAILURE TO CANCEL CONTRACT WITH PROPER NOTICE
On 6 May 2015 I sent an email to MTN with a cancellation instruction for a 3G data contract I have used for 5 years with an attached invoice indicating all the details. I was forced to do it in writing, because the automated call centre did not recognise the contract number and did not transfer me to a consultant/service agent even after repeated attempts from my side.

MTN failed to respond to the cancellation instruction, but did not hesitate to invoice me again. So on 25/5/2015 I followed up on the email with a request to be updated on the cancellation and went to Nedbank to cancel the debit order. MTN only responded on 16 June 2015 with a mail asking to confirm the contract number (specified on the MTN invoice I sent them) and a request to complete cancellation documents supposedly attached to the mail, but there were not attachments. I inform MTN of this oversight with no result. On 19/6/2015 I received a mail from Cheri Mortlock stating that \account which is in arrears cannot be cancelled"and demanding payment before the cancellation will be processed.

Delaying tactics"
