Facilitating *****t

In complete contrast to our communications act I found my mobile account had 4 completly unsolicited services subscribed to.

I had no part in adding them to my account nor did I have a role in accepting them. The sms's they sent me sugested it was a marketing opertunity to opt out of not a subscription I had. This was clearly a tactic to prevent me from realising they were in fact leaching money from my account.

The four services were.

From a bunch of thives called PureTech ********** (thius number is permanatly busy)

Antivirus

BITBPO

Funny Downloads

From a different provider (name not given ) ********** (this is an invalid number)

HOT

When I called MTN SP they said this is between me and the service providers, but I have no agreement with these providers so MTN is taking my money to pay others and tell me it's my problem.

I then checked a friends MTN phone she had a bunch of subscrptions too she was unaware of. So clearly this is a common on going way of facilitating *****t from South Africans while contriviening the communiocations act and MTN doesnt care.

If you with MTN please type *141*5# then select option 4 and check pentding and operating services cancel any you didn't opt into. I would not be suprised to find you are opted into things you have never heard of.

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for taking time to raise your concerns with MTN.

Our subscriber terms and conditions do not make specific reference to content charges. MTN enters into contractual relationship with WASP’s (Wireless Application Service Providers), and acts as an “enabler” to the WASP’s by making the network platform available and providing a payment gateway. In addition MTN requires that such WASP’s be members of WASPA in an effort to bring about a self-regulatory measure. MTN does not have relationships with the content providers, they however have direct relationships with the WASP who aggregates such content on their behalf.

For any dispute regarding Wasp content subscription/ deductions, please lodge a complaint directly with Waspa either via www.waspa.org.za or on ***.

regards

mike
