Extremely poor service from MTN
MTN recently changed their policy of data sharing on business plans. I initially wanted a month to month sim only contract and the guy at the store mistakenly offered me a 50GB business plan as a month to month contract due to the organisation i work for. As of 1 October 2025 all my datashare contacts were delinked automatically. There was no way to migrate or upgrade this contract without a significant payment which i now found out was on a 24 month contract. I went back to the store and they said i have to call the callcentre to get a cost to cancel. Called the callcentre and got the amount. Had to go back to store to pay the amount. Then had to call the callcentre again to report that i have paid and to go ahead with cancellation. This process started on 7th of October 2025 when i called to get amount. Made payment on 8th october and then called in again on 9th October. The first lady i spoke to at retentions said she could not pick up the payment at 13:10. She put me through to customer care to find payment. Spoke to Thando and she said that payment was showing with no issues. Was transfered back to retentions and this time spoke to Candace. Candace did what she was trained to do and offered me a plethora of other options but all required the same cancellation fee. Candace then said that she could not help with the cancellation and put me through to the business dept. Sibusiso at business dept also tried to offer me another option of taking multiple contracts for my datashare contacts. Anyway, he eventually cancelled and gave me a reference. It took almost 45 minutes on this final call and each of the 4 people i spoke to asked me the usual security questions which wasted time. @MTN - Your process to cancel a contract is frustrating and atrocious to say the least.
